Farage and Wootton top GB News staff share awards | Solutions journalism how-to
Good morning and welcome to your daily media news briefing on Tuesday, 7 November, brought to you today in association with United Robots – the automated editorial content specialists. Recently, they supported Media Voices to write a white paper, Practical AI for Local Media, which is available to download now.
How much does GB News love Nigel Farage, let me count the ways.
Well we can, thanks to new Companies House filings which reveal how many shares GB News has awarded to its executives and presenters.
Suspended presenter Dan Wootton also features highly on the list. We have all the data on those GB News shareholders here, which also provides a handy public league table of the channel’s most-valued staff.
News avoidance has been one of the big disruptive themes post-pandemic: the growing segment of the audience who sees switching off from the news as an act of self-care.
One way to engage with that audience is providing them with information which helps them to tackle some of the issues which concern them. This makes for a brighter read and might even change the world for the better.
Bauer Academy is hosting a one-day training course on solutions journalism on 21 November.
This will be one of a series of one-day courses offered in association with Press Gazette. The others are:
Ecosystem of a Story – 28 November, 2023
Introduction to Data Journalism – 6 December, 2023
Newsroom Resilience – 16 January, 2024
AI in the Newsroom – 23 January, 2024.
All courses are delivered live, online, via Microsoft Teams and are limited to just ten places each.
Promoted white paper:
How local media derive value from AI today
All AI is not created equal. In fact, many proven applications of it have generated concrete results for publishers for years.
In this white paper, the team at Media Voices maps out how local news publishers deploy AI and automation to launch new verticals, drive conversions, attract new audiences, create personalised products and more. It spotlights use cases from media companies including NTM Group, NRC Media, Stavanger Aftenblad and RADAR, who derive value from AI and automation every day.
Download the white paper to find out how they got started, what challenges and opportunities they see, and what the results have been for readers and journalists.
